Google Ads Freelancer for Online Shops in Switzerland

My published freelance cases are Swiss online shops. I manage Google Ads for shops in Switzerland and for German shops that sell into Switzerland, with CHF feeds, a separate Merchant Center setup and campaigns per language.

01

What is different in Switzerland.

01.1

Prices in CHF

Feed, shop page and checkout must show the same CHF price. A live conversion from euros quickly leads to mismatches and to disapproved products in Merchant Center.

01.2

Shipping and import

For German shops, CHF shipping costs and a clear statement of who bears customs duty and import tax belong on the page. Otherwise checkout is abandoned and bidding learns the wrong thing.

01.3

Several languages

The target area is the whole of Switzerland, and the language of ad and page decides which searches you serve. French and Italian are worthwhile if the additional contribution margin covers the cost of the language version.

01.4

Small market, higher prices

Less search volume than in Germany, but higher order values. Bid strategies here often take longer to gather enough data. The account structure has to take that into account.

Frequently asked questions.

You are based in Berlin. Does that work for a Swiss shop?

Yes. Work on the account does not depend on location, and coordination happens by email and video. My current cases are Swiss shops, so CHF, Swiss German spelling and the particularities of the Swiss market are part of day-to-day work.

Is Switzerland worthwhile for a German shop?

If prices, shipping and import are sorted out properly, often yes, because order values are higher. Without CHF prices and clear information on customs duty, campaigns usually become expensive. I check that in the audit before the first franc of ad budget.

Do you also manage French or Italian-language campaigns?

Yes, if the shop and feed exist in that language. I agree the French and Italian ad copy with your team before launch.
